The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating two fatal cases of Vibrio vulnificus infection, with one of them causing necrotising fasciitis (flesh-eating disease).
The case of necrotising fasciitis caused by Vibrio vulnificus affected a 48-year-old man with underlying medical conditions who lived in Shenzhen.

Two persons died of food poisoning today and six others were taken ill after consuming contaminated fish at Kebri village in Bihar's Kaimur district, police said.
Some people, all mahadalits, caught dead fish from a muddy pond and cooked it for dinner last night, Mohania's Deputy superintendent of Police (DSP) Suresh Kumar said.

Bill Stanley, an 83-year-old six-term county commissioner from North Carolina, had breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Northeast Portland last July.
As reported by Lynne Terry of The Oregonian, Stanley was in town for a nationwide meeting of county commissioners but become violently ill several hours after breakfast.

Another two people have caught Legionnaires’ in the Edinburgh outbreak of the disease.
The overall number of cases now stands at 93.
On Thursday, the Scottish Government said the two people had been ill for "some time" and the outbreak is "under control".
