PHILADELPHIA -- U.S. researchers found norovirus -- stomach flu -- RNA detectable in groundwater for more than 18 months. To better understand the risks of waterborne norovirus transmission, researchers at Emory University's Center for Global Safe Water examined how long norovirus remains infectious in water.

The Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome in Yorkshire reopened last night after it closed following an outbreak of norovirus. Proprietors Jacquie and Andrew Pern voluntarily shut the restaurant for one week on 3 November after more than 80 diners and several members of staff fell ill with the winter vomiting bug.

Boston -– A team of researchers from Boston University School (BUSM), Carney Hospital, Cambridge Health Alliance and Tufts University School of Medicine, have found that widespread poor compliance with regular cleaning of public restrooms on cruise ships may predict subsequent norovirus infection outbreaks (NoVOs).

The Fat Duck sickened 529 customers with norovirus, adopted a ridiculous PR strategy, and continues to blame others even though employees were working sick. The local council decided not to prosecute. The Llay Fish Bar, thought to be the source of an E. coli O157 outbreak that sickened four including a new mother left in a coma, will be prosecuted by the Wrexham Council.

Srinagar -- At least 60 people, including 10 children, fell ill due to food poisoning in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said today. The incident happened yesterday at Krishhama-Kunzar area, 40 km from here, in the district. About 60 people fell unconscious after having dinner at a marriage function there, they said.
