A total of 258 persons infected with the outbreak strains of Salmonella Bareilly (247 persons) or Salmonella Nchanga (11 persons) linked to tuna scrape have been reported to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control from 24 states and the District of Columbia. Of those, 32 ill persons have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.

RALEIGH — Smiling Hara of Asheville is voluntarily recalling 12-ounce packages of unpasteurized soybean tempeh because of possible contamination with salmonella.

CHILTON, Wis -- Kaytee Pet Products is recalling a single manufacturing batch of Kaytee Forti-Diet Pro Health Mouse, Rat and Hamster due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The product affected by this recall is identified below and has the following "Best Before" dates:

Diamond Pet Foods is expanding a voluntary recall to include Diamond Puppy Formula dry dog food. The company took this precautionary measure because sampling revealed Salmonella in the product. No dog illnesses have been reported.

As Illnesses associated with a Salmonella Paratyphi B outbreak climbed to 34 today, the investigation has apparently focused on tempeh produced by Smiling Hara.

A North Carolina maker of fermented bean product confirmed Monday evening that its product tested positive for salmonella. as an outbreak caused by the bacteria worsens. Smiling Hara Tempeh, which makes a soy, black bean and black-eyed pea version of the product, according to its website, had pulled the food from shelves earlier Monday.
