CHAMBERSBURG -- Raw milk produced at The Family Cow farm is the source of the most severe outbreak of sickness linked to raw milk in Pennsylvania in five years.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported on Wednesday reported five more confirmed cases of campylobacteriosis, bringing the four-state total to 76.

If Walmart can figure out that raw sprouts are too risky to sell in their stores, why are fancy food service providers, like Emirates airlines still serving sprouts?
Rebekah Denn of the Seattle Times reports Walmart U.S. quietly stopped selling raw sprouts in October of 2010.

Linda Doherty, president of the New Jersey Food Council, writes that two weeks ago, at least 38 people across four states, including some New Jersey residents, contracted campylobacter illness (the number has since risen to 65 sick). This is a bacterium causing gastrointestinal distress and possible death in certain cases.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A summer committee will study whether Indiana should allow the sale of raw, unpasteurized milk for human consumption under legislation a Senate committee passed Monday.
In the mean time, House Bill 1129 would impose stricter requirements on raw milk sold as pet food. Farmers would be required to prominently label that milk as “not for human consumption.”

While experts may prescribe that eating raw vegetables has its benefits, but if the vegetables have been irrigated with contaminated water, chances are that you may get Neurocysticercosis which causes epilepsy. So the next time you buy vegetables from the market, wash them thoroughly before eating them raw.

On Feb. 2, health officials in Pennsylvania said at least 35 people in four states were struck with a bacterial infection after drinking unpasteurized "raw" milk, the same day a New Jersey legislative committee approved a bill to allow raw milk sales in that state.
