    A senior Lothian health official has suggested some hospital staff are simply too busy to wash their hands. NHS Lothian Health Board vice-chairman Eddie Egan was speaking as it emerged that in certain departments, almost a quarter of staff are failing to wash their hands regularly. The simple hygiene measure is seen as a key tool in the fight against superbugs.

    Vaccuum-packed roast beef has been recalled from SA supermarkets after listeria bacteria was found during routine testing. IGA Deli Roast Beef, sold in 100g plastic packets with a use-by date of June 24, 2009 in Foodland supermarkets in SA and Victoria, should be thrown out or returned to its place of purchase for a full refund, the SA Health Department has advised.
