    As many as 16 of the 17 members of the Gray’s Creek High School girls’ soccer team came down with an undetermined illness last week, forcing postponement of the school’s second-round match in the state soccer playoffs.

    ALLIANCE, Ohio -- About 20 eighth-grade students from Marlington Middle School in Alliance in Stark County got sick during a recent trip to Washington, D.C., said Principal Steven Viscounte. He said students ate at a food court Thursday and started experiencing flu-like symptoms. They later learned it was a case of norovirus, the Washington D.C., Health Department said.

    ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Norovirus has sickened some 100 to 140 students of Eagle Creek Elementary School, school officials said on Wednesday. District officials has notified the Snohomish County Health District of the outbreak, which is affecting 20 percent of the school's student body.

    The Health Service Executive is investigating whether the death of an elderly resident at a community nursing home in Mayo is connected to an outbreak of gastroenteritis, which has struck 12 other residents and five staff members. Environmental health officers are investigating the outbreak at St Fionnan's community nursing unit in Achill.

    Health officials have traced an Easter outbreak of sickness in patrons of Noto's Old World Dining to norovirus, a common virus that causes symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. According to the Kent County Health Department, 166 of 240 people interviewed had symptoms. There were no known hospitalizations.

    Lincoln -- A restaurant/bar in South Sioux City has closed down voluntarily to disinfect its premises after dozens of people became ill after eating there, according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The restaurant/bar at the Marina Inn has closed temporarily on the advice of health officials.
