    OMG. That’s as good as any description of my reaction to Jimmy John Liautaud’s handling of a recent E. coli outbreak linked to clover sprouts served by the eponymous restaurant chain he founded. It seems Liautaud is leery of making any formal announcements in the wake of the outbreak that sickened a dozen people, including two that were hospitalized.

    I didn’t know Chapman knew Arabic. But there he was, goofy pic and all, in the Daily Bite at the Dubai food safety conference, saying something about how wonderful it all was. In real news, Dubai is joining PulseNet International, which monitors foodborne bacteria through their DNA fingerprints.

    Surveillance of food-borne diseases and the role of regulatory authorities in ensuring food safety will be the highlight at the 7th Dubai International Food Safety Conference, which gets underway today. More than 1,500 regional and international delegates will attend the conference, which is being held at the Dubai Convention and Exhibition Centre, said a statement.
