    For years, I had a picture of Olympic cycling from 1976 in Montreal on my bedroom wall. I tore down bikes and rebuilt them. I still have fantasies of regularly cycling again (although the bike trailer with the kid is helping).

    There’s something decadent about watching a Kansas State football game 50 yards from the sandy beaches of Anna Maria Island, Florida, on a Saturday afternoon while dining on grilled grouper fresh from the Gulf of Mexico, asparagus, summer squash and sweet potatoes. Then Coffman started barfing.

    New Zealand chef Peta Mathias has been criticized for the flashy jewelry she wears during her TV show, with critics saying the rings and other jewellery would never be tolerated in a commercial kitchen because of the bacteria that gathers underneath. Mathias agrees but says: "Hey, it's for TV."

    The Miami Herald reports that Dolphins linebacker Austin Spitler lost 18 pounds and missed a number of early training camp practices because he somehow contracted salmonella. Spitler, the seventh-round pick from Ohio State, said he spent two days in the hospital and was constantly ill. ``It was a bad deal,'' he said.

    This is not rock ’n roll. There’s all these new bands that have the same whiny sound, nothing distinctive, and lyrically they write like self-obsessed babies. Now one group is acting like babies. Kings Of Leon cancelled an outdoor gig in St Louis on Friday (July 23) after a pigeon pooped on bassist Jared Followill’s head.
