OTTAWA -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume the refrigerated cold smoked sockeye salmon trim products described below because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The following products, sold refrigerated at various weights from February 16 to February 24 inclusively, are affected by this alert:

Four cases of salmonella have been confirmed and another 36 are being investigated by Hamilton’s public health department. Public health says it believes the cases are connected to the Eat a Pita restaurant on Main Street East at Kenilworth Avenue.

Owners of a Calistoga restaurant that failed a routine health inspection this month have brought in a new management team to help clean up its act. Brannan’s Grill, owned by Mark Young and Ron Golden who operate Left Coast Restaurants, failed an inspection conducted Feb. 16 by the Napa County Department of Environmental Management.
