Epidemiologic, traceback, and laboratory investigations have linked this outbreak to eating fresh, whole papayas imported from Mexico by Agromod Produce, Inc. of McAllen, Texas.

    More victims of last summer’s salmonella outbreak at a local International House of Pancakes have settled their cases with the national food chain. Dean Boyd, the victims’ attorney, requested Friday the 320th District Court dismiss another seven plaintiffs from the case, according to court records.

    What started out as an apparent outbreak of campylobacter has now led to 24 cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome in southwestern Arizona and a neighboring community in Mexico. NewsTimes reports Shoana Anderson, chief of infectious diseases at the Arizona Department of Health Services, said the outbreak is suspected to have been triggered by a foodborne illness known as campylobacter.
