    Baby chicks and ducklings may be fun to play with, especially for little kids, but they are also sources of salmonella. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control reports that 39 people –almost half children under 5-years-old – have been sickened with Salmonella Altona from handling chicks or ducklings, that have been traced back to the same mail-order hatchery in Ohio.

    An Abu Dhabi branch of the popular Chili's Restaurant chain, which was ordered to close over food safety violations, has reopened. Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority said on Wednesday that it had closed the Hamdan Street branch of Chili's following an inspection.

    The NSW Food Authority advises: Parmalat Food Products Pty Ltd is recalling a batch of their Pura Milk sold in NSW in IGAs, Foodworks and service stations, such as Caltex and Mobil, hospitals and corner stores. The product is being recalled because of the possible presence of a small amount of food grade sanitiser, causing a metalic aftertaste.
