    DUBAI -- There have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to E. coli bacteria in the city, authorities said yesterday, after reports that rocket salad leaves sold in Dubai and Sharjah were highly contaminated with dangerous faecal matter.

    An E. coli outbreak at a butcher shop is apparently contained. On Tuesday, the Marathon County Health Department cleared Zillman Meat Market in Wausau to resume making sausage and other smoked products. A department spokeswoman says there haven't been any more reports of illness since the problem was reported last week.

    A Chilliwack raw milk dairy ordered to stop distributing unpasteurized milk is now calling its products cosmetics. Tearing a page from the history books, Our Cows cow-share cooperative now labels raw milk and raw-milk dairy products as Cleopatra's bathing milk, raw milk skin care lotion and face cream, according to farmer Michael Schmidt.

    Tiny Greens of Urbana, Ill., is recalling all Alfalfa Sprouts and Spicy Sprouts from November 1st thru December 21st because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.  Product was distributed thru various distributors in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri and could have ended up in restaurants and supermarkets near those areas.

    Who hasn’t made mistakes? Mine are documented in all sorts of ways and places. Resat Gundogdu, a U.K. restaurant owner who was fined £24,000 after E. coli was found in his kebab shop, has now been praised for his impeccable hygiene standards, earning the maximum five stars in his latest Scores On The Doors hygiene inspection.

    A sewing needle found in a piece of fruit has forced Barrie police to issue a warning to residents to inspect their food after the isolated incident of food tampering was reported Monday evening. A Gibbon Drive man called police around 8 p.m. after he found the sewing needle in a clementine. He was not injured.

    URBANA – The owner of an Urbana sprouts farm linked to a multi-state salmonella outbreak said he was cooperating with state and federal investigators on finding the source of the contamination. "We're trying to see if we can get to the bottom of this," said Bill Bagby Jr., owner of Tiny Greens Farms of rural Urbana.

    On 2010  12 cases of food poisoning was recorded through botulism. 19 people suffered one of whom was a 14 years old child. The poisonings were caused as a result of using homemade souses of red pepper, cucumber, tomato, caviar of eggplant, canned bean in Lori, Kotayk, Aragatsotn, Shirak, Syunik, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor regions as well as in Yerevan.

    Food-safety authorities have issued a warning to a restaurant in Lok Fu after a plate of Mandarin fish with pine nuts was found to contain the banned veterinary drug malachite green. The Centre for Food Safety did not rule out prosecuting the Imperial Kitchen at the Lok Fu Shopping Centre.
