The local council decided not to prosecute. The Llay Fish Bar, thought to be the source of an E. coli O157 outbreak that sickened four including a new mother left in a coma, will be prosecuted by the Wrexham Council.

Finding atypical scrapie (or Nor 98)) in a sheep in New Zealand was only a matter of time. Nor 98 (it was first identified in Norway in 1998) is a brain condition of sheep and goats that is thought to be natural and spontaneous in occurrence, so any country that looks for it is very likely to eventually find it.

NEW ORLEANS -- Federal officials plan to ban sales of raw oysters harvested from the Gulf of Mexico unless the shellfish are treated to destroy potentially deadly bacteria — a requirement that opponents say could deprive diners of a delicacy cherished for generations. The plan has also raised concern among oystermen that they could be pushed out of business.
