    PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Elton John and Billy Joel concert originally scheduled for the Rose Garden November 10 was postponed after John was diagnosed with an e-coli infection. Live Nation and The Rose Garden said Friday that John was advised by his doctor to postpone these performances due to a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and the flu.

    BROCKTON -- E. coli cases from a tainted batch of hamburger processed at a Brockton meat packing plant appear to have spread to at least two other states, says a lawyer representing the families of two boys who became sick after eating the meat at a camp in Plymouth. He also says there have been cases elsewhere in Massachusetts not related to the outbreak at the camp.

    In September 2005, Tim Emberton sued the Red Lobster restaurant in Bowling Green, and its employee, Carissa Phelps, claiming they gave him Hepatitis-A. A Warren Circuit Court jury found Red Lobster liable, and awarded Emberton $233,000.

    A coalition of food and consumer groups that includes Consumers Union and the Center for Science in the Public Interest has asked the Food and Drug Administration to ban the practice. Even McDonald's Corp., the nation's largest restaurant user of beef, wants the FDA to prohibit the feeding of so-called poultry litter to cattle.

    A proposal fishermen believed would stop them using imported fishing bait has been dropped after a public outcry. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry wanted all imported whole fish to be irradiated to kill viral haemorrhagic septicaemia (VHS) - a disease deadly to fish that has seriously depleted populations in the North American Great Lakes.

    A tiny insect that threatens California's $1.6-billion citrus industry has been found near one of the state's commercial citrus growing regions. The Asian citrus psyllid, which has ravaged orchards in Florida as well as overseas, was found in Valley Center in rural San Diego County, the closest the bug has come to a major concentration of citrus groves.

    WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is moving forward to implement the agency’s May 2009 final rule revoking tolerances, or residue limits, for the pesticide carbofuran. EPA continues to find that dietary exposures to carbofuran from all sources combined are not safe.

    Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is being prosecuted after environmental health inspectors reported finding cockroaches, mice and flies at one of its busiest UK restaurants. Officials from Westminster Council said that a cockroach scurried across a counter when they visited the fast food outlet in Leicester Square, central London.
