    Kota Kinabalu -- Twenty-three Year Six pupils, mostly girls, were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, for suspected food poisoning, Saturday evening. The victims were part of some Year Six 100 pupils taking part in a camping programme organised by SK Sri Gaya within its premise since Friday.

    EUREKA -- A Woodford County woman who may be among those infected with hepatitis A after eating at a McDonald's in the Quad Cities area doesn't plant to return for any Happy Meals. "Oh no, never," Karie Fiegel, 33, said when asked if she'd eat at McDonald's again. "Even though now I'm immune for the rest of my life."

    Jaisalmer -- Thirty girls of a Madarsa in Sardasingh-ki-Dhai here were hospitalised today after they complained of food poisoning, sources said. The minor girls complained of pain in abdomen and vomiting in the wee hours today following which they were rushed to a nearby hospital in Pokran sub-division, they said.

    The two groups of school children have been admitted to hospital in Sri Lanka hill country following suspected food poisoning. The hospital authorities said at least 121 students, from Tamil College at Meemale in Kothmale were admitted to the hospital this afternoon due to food poisoning. However, the condition of the students is not life threatening, hospital sources said.

    Keehn writes that about a year ago I took my 11-year-old daughter to the emergency room with what turned out to be salmonella poisoning. My first thought when I heard the diagnosis: Did she pick up the infection from our flock of chickens? But the public-health outreach worker at the local department of health said that was unlikely.

    Recalls of toxic or potentially toxic food products have become so routine that many of us barely pay attention unless we have just purchased some of the suspect substance. Food-borne illness is a by-product of mass agricultural production, rapid worldwide trade and the inability of regulatory agencies to sample any significant portion of the products headed to our dinner tables.
