Fifçteen residents of Sitio Omega, Barangay Pahina-Central, Cebu City are suspected to have hepatitis.
The patients still have to undergo medical examinations to confirm if they have the condition, Barangay Councilor Mencho Burlasa said.
Burlasa, who is also the barangay’s vice chairperson for health, said the persons believed to have hepatitis are between the ages 17 and 40. She said they have yellowish skin and are experiencing stomach pains, leading to the suspicion that they have hepatitis.
“As of now, we are asking the City Health to support us and also to check what kind of hepatitis they got,” said Burlasa.
If the results of the medical examination prove positive, the barangay will shoulder the cost of medicines to be taken from the calamity fund.
She said the “tuslob-buwa” may have something to do with the incidents.
