JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services confirmed several new cases of E. coli infections in humans on Friday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in mid-Missouri up to 12.
The outbreak first appeared in Boone County earlier this week but has since been found in Jackson, Clark, Camden, Miller and Cooper counties.
Health authorities in Boone County say their three local cases can all be linked to the ingestion of raw dairy products. But state health officials have yet to disclose the cause of the other cases.
