CANADA: North Kee Trading and Ontario Inc. fined for offences under the Food and Drugs Act, the Meat Inspection Act, & the Canada Agricultural Products Act

Guelph, Ontario -- On December 7, 2011, convictions were registered in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto against Mr. Kai Pak Wu, also known as Simon Wu, and his two companies: Ontario Corporation 1519694, operating as North Kee Trading Company and Ontario Corporation 2217989, operating as Ontario Inc.
Mr. Wu entered a guilty plea to one count under Section 7 of the Meat Inspection Actfor exporting meat products out of Canada to China on eight occasions. This conviction resulted in a 12 month Conditional Sentence Order, which Mr. Wu will serve in the community.
The North Kee Trading Company entered a guilty plea to one count under section 5.(1) of the Food and Drugs Act for labelling and packaging meat products in a manner that was false, misleading or deceptive or in a manner likely to create an erroneous impression regarding its character, value, composition, merit or safety. This conviction resulted in a fine of $7,500.
Jointly, the North Kee Trading Company and Ontario Inc. entered a guilty plea to one count under Section 7 of the Meat Inspection Act for exporting meat products out of Canada to China on six occasions. This conviction resulted in a total fine of $7,500, or $3,750 for each corporation.
