Swiss vegetable growers will get nearly 3 million francs in compensation for four weeks of losses during the E. coli outbreak this year.
The Federal Council said Swiss producers suffered through no fault of their own, after initial lab tests erroneously blamed Spanish cucumbers for the outbreak.
Egyptian fenugreek seeds were later found to be the cause but panic had already set in.
Swiss growers destroyed tons of vegetables, and estimated losses totaled 6.6 million francs.
The Federal Council agreed to reimburse about half the losses on some vegetable types.
