This week's Restaurant Report Card comes to us from the Hardin County Health Department.
EL JALAPENO MEXICAN GRILL 104 SOUTH MERCHANT/SOUR LAKE GRADE=79
We begin with El Jalapeno Mexican Grill in Sour Lake. Inspector Kellum found dirty floors, black mold on the ice machine, paper towels were needed at the hand sink, and a thermometer was needed to ensure safe food temperatures. El Jalapeno Mexican Grill in Sour Lake gets 79.
HAPPY DONUTS114 SOUTH MAIN/LUMBERTON GRADE=83
Next is Happy Donuts on North Main in Lumberton. The floors were dirty and needed to be cleaned. Inspector Kellum found no paper towels for proper hand washing, there was not thermometer for taking food temperatures, and an employee needed a hair restraint. Happy Donuts in Lumberton gets an 83
SOUTHERN MAID DONUTS 690 SOUTH MAIN/LUMBERTON GRADE=89
Now to Southern Maid Donuts in Lumberton. Inspector Kellum checked out the walk in freezer. She found food on the floor when it must be kept six inches off of the floor. Food also needed dates on the containers so they would now when it is no longer safe to eat.Southern Main Donuts in Lumberton gets an 89.
RUFFLES 4375 FM 1122 SILSBEE NO SCORE
Now to Ruffles in Silsbee Inspector Kellum inspected following a customer complaint She said the reach in refrigerator needed to be cleaned. An employee was handling ready to eat food without gloves, there were flies in the kitchen.. And clean water was needed for washing dishes. No score was issued because it was a complaint investigation.
