SIMSBURY — WFSB-TV3 is reporting a case of suspected typhoid fever at Squadron Line Elementary School in Simsbury. Diane Ullman, the district superintendent, said the school is aware of the suspected case, and that precautions need to be taken, according to WFSB. The school is being decontaminated, but will not close, WFSB wrote. The Connecticut Department of Public Health states that typhoid fever is bacterial illness, caused by a unique strain of Salmonella called Salmonella typhi (S. typhi), according to WFSB.
