Use of rBST hormone in US cattle almost to an end

The use of the artificial milk stimulation hormone rBST seems no longer common practice on US dairy farms. The hormone is almost never detected anymore in consumption milk and large dairy firms are banning the use of it.
A spokesperwon of the National Milk Producers Federation states that supermarkets and shops don't want rBST-milk anymore. Before, rBST-free milk was a specilaity/niche product, now it is the standard and considered - and sold - as normal milk.
The first dairy producers in the US now have decided to ban the use of the hormone. Upstate Niagara Cooperative (Buffalo) is one of the latest firms to decide on banning the use of rBST (as of April 1, 2011). Dairy producers who stop using the hormone, can still use the transition period.
