CALIFORNIA: Safeway recalls deli broccoli salad, deli pasta salad and two vegetable trays that contain broccoli in multiple states

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- In cooperation with the Taylor Farms voluntary recall of products containing fresh broccoli, Safeway is voluntarily recalling broccoli salad and pasta salad, both sold at store delis, and two pre-packed vegetable trays that contain broccoli sourced from Taylor Farms.
The recalled products were made using Taylor Farm’s fresh broccoli and sold in the deli area at Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Pak N’ Save stores. The following affected products have a “Use By” dates of February 7, 2011 to March 7, 2011.

Also Milton Freewater in Oregon. The Taylor Farms recall was initiated in response to an isolated instance in which a test sample yielded a positive result for Listeria. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
