DUBAI -- Quick identification of food-borne diseases and speedy investigation in severe cases of food poisoning will soon be in place as Dubai Municipality (DM) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) inch towards the implementation of a unified system to report and investigate such illnesses.
Officials from DHA and the Food Control Department (FCD) of the Municipality met last week to discuss the execution of the new system which will help DM receive prioritised notifications of suspected food poisoning cases from hospitals and clinics, based on which food
inspectors will launch investigations.
Director of Public Health and Safety at DHA, Dr Ali Al Marzouqi said his department is coordinating with DM to form the policies and guidelines for streamlining the process of reporting food-borne illnesses by healthcare establishments in Dubai.
