LOS ANGELES -- Health officials say tainted eggs have sickened at least 266 Californians with salmonella, despite a multi-state recall.
Los Angeles County health officer Dr. Jonathan Fielding said Tuesday the sick will develop diarrhea, fever and cramps and the illness typically lasts four to seven days.
Babies, the elderly and those with weak immune systems are vulnerable to more severe illness.
Eggs from Wright County Egg of Galt, Iowa, were delivered to wholesalers, distribution centers and food service companies in California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Seven cases of salmonella were linked to the same recall in Minnesota.
The eggs are packaged under various names, including Albertson, Ralph's and Farm Fresh.
