ILLINOIS: More hepatitis A lawsuits filed against McDonald’s

Six more lawsuits were filed today by Quad-City area residents against McDonald's Corp. over a hepatitis A outbreak this summer.
All six plaintiffs dined at the Milan, Ill., McDonalds, 400 W. 1st St., in June or July and later became ill and were diagnosed with hepatitis A. The suits were filed by VanDerGinst Law of Rock Island, and also name some of the victim's spouses as plaintiffs.
All six suits name McDonald's and the local franchise owner, JKLM Inc., as defendants.
Four earlier lawsuits were already filed against McDonald's in Rock Island County Circuit Court, including a class-action suit on behalf of those who dined at the restaurant and later received a vaccination.
Dennis VanDerGinst said at a news conference that some of the victims in the latest lawsuits might need to have their gallbladders removed as a result of the disease they contracted.
